We have a great deal of experience in the design of both new multiplex
cinemas and the refurbishment / splitting of
existing traditional cinemas.
In the last 20 years multiplex
cinemas have revolutionised the cinema market, attracting large attendances
with their greater consumer choice. We have the industry experience to develop
your multiplex cinema from outline plan to finished project with the greatest
facility.
In the last 5 years we have completed over 100 new screens in developments
ranging in cost from £100,0000 to £5M. NBDA has been engaged by
developers, operators and contractors to design a wide variety of multiplex
developments, both purpose built out of town and town centre developments.
We are proud of our expertise in dealing with
refurbishment projects. Through our work with Odeon
Cinemas (the largest cinema chain in the UK) we believe we have more knowledge
of splitting and the refurbishment of original theatre style cinemas than
any other architects firm in the country. In the past 10 years we have created
over 120 additional screens. Many of the schemes have been to develop listed
buildings, consulting with the local authorities and English Heritage to ensure
the smoothest process in achieving planning permission. We have received commendations
from local authorities for our developments on listed buildings: ensuring

are able to recommend changes and consult on the feasibility of schemes to
ensure your cinema complies with the Disability Discrimination Act.
