Early in 1997 NBDA Ltd was appointed to design over 1000 new accommodation units at Skegness. Through extensive dialogue with the client this developed into two and three bedroom self catered apartments and two storey linked rooms arranged in paired linear blocks forming distinctive landscaped courtyards.
The new accommodation has been laid out to create two separate “New England” themed villages. Both of which are car free with each courtyard accessed from a pedestrianised spine route that links to the entertainment facilities. Large car parks are provided around the site perimeter.
The £33 million project commenced on site at the beginning of October
1997 and was completed within the programmed 20 weeks enabling guests
to occupy all the accommodation for the Easter 1998 holiday period.
